AIDIA STUDIO - Train Station Architect

AIDIA STUDIO is the architectural firm responsible for designing the Tulum Train Station, a landmark project on the Riviera Maya. The design prioritizes sustainability and integrates pre-Hispanic Mayan architectural principles through the use of light, shadows, and natural ventilation. The station features a unique eye-shaped footprint and a steel gridshell roof clad in Glass Fibre Reinforced Concrete (GRC) and laminated wood to optimize thermal performance without mechanical systems.

The project was commissioned by FONATUR Tren Maya and constructed between January 2022 and June 2023. Lead architects Rolando Rodriguez-Leal and Natalia Wrzask oversaw a team that focused on user experience, mobility, and creating semi-open spaces that celebrate rail transportation.
