CO-LAB Design Office - Architecture and Construction

CO-LAB Design Office is a full-service architecture and design-build studio based in downtown Tulum, Mexico. Founded in 2010 by Joana Gomes and Joshua Beck, the firm specializes in creating luxury, eco-friendly homes that harmonize with the natural environment through sustainable principles and tropical modern design.

The studio operates as both a design office and a workshop, allowing them to prototype furniture, develop unique finishes, and collaborate directly with local artisans. Their projects often feature handcrafted elements like polished cement walls, terrazzo floors, and charred cedar carpentry, ensuring every detail reflects the site's beauty. With over two decades of combined experience from founders who have worked with global firms like OMA and MVRDV, CO-LAB has gained international recognition, including features in Architectural Digest and consecutive selections for the AD100 Latin America list.
