Tulum National Park is a protected coastal reserve that uniquely combines an ancient walled Mayan city with pristine Caribbean beaches. Located on the cliffs overlooking the sea, the site features well-preserved structures like El Castillo and the Temple of Frescoes, offering visitors a direct connection to the Postclassic Maya trading port known as Zamá. The park spans over 664 hectares, encompassing diverse ecosystems including mangroves, low forests, and cenotes connected to the vast Sac Actún cave system.

Visitors can explore the archaeological zone managed by INAH while enjoying access to public beaches at Playa Paraíso. The area is home to abundant wildlife, including black iguanas, howler monkeys, and nesting sea turtles from May to November. While entry fees apply for both the park and the ruins, the experience provides a rare opportunity to witness history and nature coexisting in one of Mexico's most visited sites.
