Pet Cemetery Cenote (also known as Sac Actun) is a remarkable section of the world's second-longest underwater cave system located deep in the jungle outside Tulum. Discovered in 1987 and continually explored since, this site offers public access to a unique environment where divers and conservationists have uncovered ancient animal bones, including those of extinct prehistoric camels and tapirs, resting on the soft, dune-like bottom of the pool.

While fully guided dives are available for experienced divers with proper credentials, the site is not suited for beginners due to the specialized training required for cavern and cave diving. Snorkeling remains an accessible option for visitors of all ages and abilities, allowing them to admire the highly decorated speleothems, delicate stalactites, and blind cave fish without entering the deeper cave systems. The area is also home to living wildlife above ground, such as spider monkeys, creating a striking contrast between the vibrant jungle life and the silent, fossilized history below the waterline.
