Tulum Ruins - Mayan Ruin Tour

Experiences
business

The Mayan Ruins of Tulum stand as one of the most iconic archaeological sites in Mexico, uniquely perched on limestone cliffs overlooking the turquoise Caribbean Sea. As the last city inhabited by the Maya people before the Spanish arrival, this well-preserved seaport offers visitors a rare glimpse into a fortified trading hub that once exported jade and obsidian across the region.

Visitors can explore the site's defining structures, including the majestic El Castillo, which served as both a temple and a navigational beacon for ancient mariners, and the Temple of the Frescoes, featuring intricate murals depicting the Mayan world of the dead and living. The site is enclosed by a massive limestone wall and includes pathways leading down to secluded beach areas perfect for swimming and photography.

The ruins are open daily from 8 AM to 5 PM, with entry fees typically ranging between 70 and 150 pesos depending on current park regulations. While tour guides are available for hire at the entrance, self-guided exploration is encouraged with informational signs throughout the grounds. Visitors should prepare for hot weather, bring water and sunscreen, and be aware that single-use plastic bottles are prohibited inside the archaeological zone.
